Uvod/Editorial
Ti mi govoriš riječima, a ja te gledam osjećanjima Ludi Pjero Broj 45, 21. jun, 2020 Srećan 10. rođendan, Camera Lucida! Kako vratiti pokret slikama u aktuelnoj globalnoj zdravstvenoj i socio-političkoj krizi? Bez velikih planova, preživjeli smo do sada, zahvaljujući sjajnoj ekipi filmskih kritičara, autora i filmofila. You talk to me with words and I look at you with feelings Pierrot le fou 45th issue 21st June, 2020 Happy 10th birthday, Camera Lucida! How to put back motion into the pictures in the current global health and socio-political crisis? One of the possible answers is by creating more thought-provoking and enchanting images in the cinema darkness, by writing and reading more about films, and by celebrating Camera Lucida’s 10th anniversary. Without grand plans, we have made it thus far, thanks to the enthusiastic and dedicated team of film critics, film authors and cinéphiles. For 10 years based on voluntary work, Camera Lucida has been devoted to its passionate look on cinema magic, continuing to offer challenging and critical approaches to the mainstream visual and film politics, which could help us heal during troubling times, maybe even constructing new cinema magic, without which we might not survive. The opening text of Camera Lucida’s jubilee 45th issue is Steven Yates’s brilliant “Isolation in films”, part II, focused on Andrei Tarkovsky’s films and other film masterpieces permeated by themes and feelings of isolation. Jean-Michel Frodon tackles the announced return, after a long time, of the world’s most prestigious and oldest film magazine, Cahiers du cinéma, while Tonči Valentić analyses the opus of Stanley Kubrick, asking the preliminary question “can a film think?” in his masterly “Totality and endlessness – film ontology of Stanley Kubrick”. In his six texts of this special issue, Jonathan Rosenbaum reviews Yvonne Rainer’s Privilege, Coen brothers’ A serious man, focuses on women of substance in the works by Ozon, Zwigoff and Scott McGehee and Davied Siegel, revisits Gus Van Sant’s Last days, and captivates us with his 1974 Paris-London Journal and 1976 London & New York Journal. Our new contributor, Tettyo Saito from Japan, focuses on three young Japanese film talents: Riho Kudo, Hirofumi Watanabe and Kana Yamada The exclusive part of the special Camera Lucida are interviews: a rare, amazing heretofore unpublished 2001 interview with Miloš Forman, by Steven Yates at the Barbican centre, London, and another rare, but most recent interview with Jean-Luc Godard, during the Coronavirus lockdown, made on 7th April 2020 by EFCAL’s Lionel Baier and translated from a video transcript by the students of the Faculty of philology, University of Montenegro, Nikšić. The Festivals section is quite scarce, for obvious reasons, and brings a report (by Maja Bogojević) on the amazing young festival of cinematographers, BalKam, whose 2nd edition was held in Ljubljana from 23-27th January, 2020; the report, also, includes their festival plans for 2021. We wish them good luck for future editions. In memoriam pays tribute to Honor Blackman and Michel Piccoli in the texts by Ronald Bergan, in English, to Michel Piccoli in the text by Jean-Michel Frodon in French, and to Aleksandar Luj Todorović (in Serbo-Croat).
