Uvod/Editorial
Ken Loach), Fuocammare-Lampedusa (r. Gianfranco Rosi), Snowden (r. Internacionalnom Filmfestivalu Mannheim-Heidelberg, dok rubrika Mala educacion prenosi seminarski rad Jelene Jovanović-Nikolić „Mogućnosti tumačenja naracije i naratora: studije slučaja dokumentarni filmovi Ždrijelo i Polaznik Živka Nikolića". In memoriam, zahvaljujući Ronaldu Berganu, odaje počast Héctor Babenku, Marnie Nixon, Glorii DeHaven, David Huddlestonu, Gene Wilderu, Andrzej Wajdi i Zsa Zsi Gabor. U rubrici Novih knjiga, otkrićete zašto je Aleksandar Bečanović oduševljen knjigom Suspiria Alexandre Heller-Nicholas. Maja Bogojević |
My job is to care about and be responsible for every frame of every movie I make. I know that all over the world there are young people borrowing from relatives and saving their allowances to buy their first cameras and put together their first student movies, some of them dreaming of becoming famous and making a fortune. But a few are dreaming of finding out what matters to them, of saying to themselves and to anyone who will listen, 'I care.' A few of them want to make good movies.
Sidney Lumet 26-27 double great issue has arrived just in the midst of the festive season at the close of 2016, in which the Camera Lucida team celebrates, yet again, film art. You will read the texts in English, Serbo-Croat and French by our lucid regulars Ronald Bergan, Jean-Michel Frodon, and Jonathan Rosenbaum. In his insightful analyses, Jean-Michel Frodon draws our attention to films I, Daniel Blake (by Ken Loach), Fuocammare-Lampedusa (by Gianfranco Rosi), Snowden (by Oliver Stone), Juste la fin du monde (by Xavier Dolan) and 'to one of the most important events of world film history in the 21st century'- the opening of cinema network around China, while paying homage to one of the greatest - Michael Cimino. Jonathan Rosenbaum returns to USA independent cinema, in his "Talking to Strangers: a Look at Recent American Independent Cinema", an excerpt from a lecture given in Lisboa in 1989, and makes an illuminating and bold discussion of "Two non-auteurist films, new and old". Our new distinguished author Adrian Martin discusses in his pioneering essay "Citizen Without a Past: Lost Identities and Downward Destinies in a New Political Cinema", the politics of the cinematic form of cinema of encounter "that plunges us right into the middle of things", by refocusing our theoretical attention to and redefining what used to be called the place of the spectator, and insightfully tackling the themes of exile, diaspora, the refugee condition or economic precarity in an in-depth analysis of The Man Without a Past and La Pivellina. Vuk Uskoković continues, in the 2nd part of his paper, to question art though artistic expression of Godard's conceptual approach in filmmaking, while Marija Ivanović has the rare privilege of a slight departure from the Camera Lucida 'strictly film' concept and ventures into the realm of popular TV series to transmit to us her delight and enthusiasm for the latest extravaganza by Paolo Sorrentino - The Young Pope. The focus of this issue are Interviews: with talented and young Montenegrin film author Ivan Marinović, who has achieved a great – the greatest for Montenegrins so far - international success with his debut feature Black Pin (Igla ispod praga), with Bertrand Tavernier by Joan Dupont, with Bobby Sarma Baruah - the Golden Wing of Assam, by Steven Yates, and with another young and talented Montenegrin filmmaker Stefan Bošković, by Miroslav Minić. Alexandra Pütter reviews Erica Fae's To Keep the Light, screened at the 65th International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg, while Mala educacion introduces Jelena Jovanović-Nikolić and her essay „Mogućnosti tumačenja naracije i naratora: studije slučaja dokumentarni filmovi Ždrijelo i Polaznik Živka Nikolića". The texts are translated from French by our translator Nina Bukilić. In memoriam, thanks to Ronald Bergan, pays tribute to Héctor Babenko, Marnie Nixon, Gloria DeHaven, David Huddleston, Gene Wilder, Andrzej Wajda and Zsa Zsa Gabor. In the section on New Books, you will discover why Aleksandar Bečanović is delighted with Alexandra Heller-Nicholas' Suspiria. Maja Bogojević |
